Overview

Payyanur College, Payyanur is a Post Graduate College situated at Edat, in Kunhimangalam Panchayat and affiliated to Kannur University. It is one of the very few sought after institutions of higher education and learning under the jurisdiction of the Kannur University. From the moment of its inception fifty four years ago, the college has been functioning as an outstanding, secular centre of academic excellence. Payyanur College was inaugurated by its Chief Patron Vyaghram S. Sivaramakrishna Iyer on the 15th of July 1965. The Payyanur Educational Society which owns the college is a non-communal, non-partisan registered society of over two thousand members.

Before the delinking of Pre-degree, Payyanur College served a massive student population to the tune of two thousand and five hundred. After the bifurcation of the Pre-degree course, the College offers courses of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral status in various disciplines to a community of about 1800 students. Drawing its students from among all the communities of the sprawling Kannur and Kasaragod districts and catering to the secular, democratic, and academic interests of this region, Payyanur College stands out as the mother institution of the intellectual community that spearheads all activities of this region. With its imposing vastness of 66 acres of land as campus area, the college is a significant physical and intellectual presence that rivals even a university. The college has left behind forty six years of meritorious service, retaining its significant place in the life and career of generations of young men and women in and around the northern districts of Kerala, Kannur and Kasaragod. Payyanur College stands unrivalled as a prospering centre of excellent higher education, sports and arts achievements.

Anti Ragging Policy

    The Institution follows the policy of zero tolerance to ragging and the College Level Anti-ragging Committee works in co-ordination with the General Discipline Committee and Students Grievance & Ethics Committee to ensure this.
